4.2. List of Priority Lines of Activity
The main lines of the JSC “Transneft” activity include provision of services in the area of:
- transportation of oil via the system of trunk pipelines in the Russian Federation and abroad, dispatching control of the oil supplies;
- transportation of oil products via the system of trunk pipelines in the Russian Federation and abroad, dispatching control of the oil product supplies.
Apart from that, the Company provides services for oil storage in the system of trunk pipelines, oil compounding and realization.
Within the framework of centralization of the contractual activity, in 2012 the Company entered into 152 contracts for the oil transportation services and 29 contracts with consignors for the oil product transportation services.
Apart from the core activity of the oil transportation in the territory of the Russian Federation, JSC “Transneft” provides for the planning and management of oil transportation in foreign countries, control of oil handing-over at foreign transfer and acceptance points, organizes collection and generalization of the information.
Acting as an agent of the Russian consignors for the oil transportation in the Republic of Belarus, Ukraine and the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “Transneft” entered into contracts for oil transportation services with JSC “Polotsktranspetrol Druzhba”, JSC “Gomeltransoil Druzhba”, JSC Ukrtransnafta, and KazTransOil JSC (TON-2).
Expansion of Production Capacities and Increase of the Volume of Services
In 2012, the total volume of the oil accepted by the system of trunk oil pipelines of JSC “Transneft” amounted to 481.7 mln tons, which is 1.6% more than in 2011.
The volume of oil accepted from Russian producers amounted to 460.8 mln tons, exceeding the 2011 level by 1.8%.
Oil delivered to the system from Kazakhstan decreased by 2.1% as compared with 2011 and amounted to 18.9 mln tons. The volume of Azerbaijan oil in the reporting year remained at the level of 2011 and equalled 2.0 mln tons.
Export to the far-abroad and CIS countries in 2012 amounted to 238.24 mln tons, which is 0.5% higher than in 2011.
The volume of the oil delivery to Russian refineries amounted to 241.7 mln tons which is 3.6% more than in 2011.
The volume of oil delivered to Belarusian refineries equalled 21.1 mln tons exceeding the 2011 result by 17.2%.
The volume of the oil delivered to Kazakh refineries during the reporting period equalled 6.01 mln tons which is 5.7% less than in 2011.
The volume of oil delivered to Ukrainian refineries during the reporting year equalled 0.73 mln tons which is 84.3% less than in 2011. Delivery of oil via the system of the trunk oil pipelines of JSC “Transneft” to Ukrainian refineries was terminated in 2012.
The volume of the oil shipped for export to the far-abroad countries in 2012 equalled 210.38 mln tons exceeding the 2011 result by 1.1%.
The volume of Russian oil exported to the far-abroad countries in 2012 equalled 41.1% of the total amount of the Russian oil accepted in the system of trunk oil pipelines, export of Russian oil to the far-abroad countries decreased by 0.2% as compared with 2011.
In March 2012, oil transportation via the BPS-2 pipeline system and oil shipment via LLC “Spetsmornefteport Ust-Luga” (SMNP Ust-Luga LLC) commenced. The total volume of oil exported via SMNP Ust-Luga during the year equalled 14.3 mln tons.
In December 2012, the second stage of the pipeline system “Eastern Siberia — Pacific Ocean” (ESPO-2) was commissioned. The ESPO project is designated for oil transportation to Russian refineries, as well as to the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region. In 2012, the volume of oil exported via the Kozmino port amounted to 16.3 mln tons which is 1.1 mln tons or 7.2% more than in 2011. The volume of the oil delivered to the port via pipelines equalled 1 mln tons. The volume of the oil delivered by railway to the Kozmino SMNP in 2012 remained at the 2011 level and equalled 15.3 mln tons.
In March 2012, construction of the Zapolyarie — Purpe pipeline commenced. The pipeline will connect the deposits located in Yamal and in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Oblast with the system of trunk oil pipelines of JSC “Transneft”. The pipeline goes through the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs. The oil pipeline capacity amounts to 45 mln tons per year. The first stage of the project will be completed in 2014.
In general the Company was able to export supplies due to the efficient use by JSC “Transneft” of the oil pipeline capacities, construction of objects of the pipeline transport, performance of works for reconstruction of the oil pumping stations, berths, replacement of the pipeline sections, regulation of the pumping and pipeline operation modes, dispatching control and coordination of the oil supplies, both in the Russian Federation and abroad.
